New Backer Level for Two Decks, Survey Add-Ons, and another bonus for Addison!
almost 5 years ago – Sat, May 04, 2019 at 12:47:39 PM

Many folks have been reaching out asking about ways to reduce international shipping costs by ordering multiple decks at the same time. I hear and share your concerns about high international shipping costs. I wish they were lower too! In response to your excellent ideas I have added an $85 tier to order two decks at the same time! This pledge level gives you $5 off the second deck, and an opportunity to split the shipping costs with a friend or neighbor! Because the decks will be shipped in a flat rate USPS Priority envelope, international shipping for two decks will cost exactly the same as one deck! This pledge level is available to all backers both in the US and international.

I have also partnered with BackerKit, a service that offers the ability to add items onto your pledge at the end of the Kickstarter, when you submit your survey. If you would like to add pin(s), print(s), or extra deck(s) you will easily be able to do this through the BackerKit survey! Add-on pins will be a discounted $10 (a single pin is $12) and add-on decks will be a discounted $40 (a single deck is $45.) Shipping will be consolidated and made as affordable as possible for add-ons as well.

I'm also delighted to let you know that We have reached our 3rd goal for Addison's coloring bonus!

At $13,000 Addison will receive a $500 Bonus REACHED!

At  $18,000 Addison's bonus will be increased to $1,000 REACHED!

At $23,000 Addison's bonus will be increased to $1,500 REACHED!

At $28,000 Addison's bonus will be increased to $2,000

At 28,000 not only does Addison get a whopping extra $2,000 bonus, but we also reach our stretch goal for holographic black edges. So let's shoot for that everyone! Shiny edges and well paid colorists here we come!

New Stretch Goal: Holographic Black Edges!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 01, 2019 at 05:25:42 PM

NEW STRETCH GOAL! If we reach $28,000 I will be printing the deck with both gold edges AND holographic black edges. Each backer will be able to choose in their survey if they prefer gilded gold or holographic black edges.

I absolutely love how these shiny goth black edges catch and reflect the light. I hope together that we can make them a reality! Less than $8000 to go...

Week 1 of card releases and bonuses for Addison!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, May 01, 2019 at 01:32:02 AM

Hello beloved backers!

Today has been a very exciting week! Not only have we exceeded our goal, AND our stretch goal, but we've also over doubled the funding that we needed to print this deck! I am delighted to say that as a result of this incredible first week will will be ordering twice as many tarot decks from the printer than originally planned! I have also decided to work in further bonuses for our incredible colorist Addison Duke into the funding process... because he deserves it! Every extra $5,000 beyond the original goal that we raise on Kickstarter will result in a $500 bonus for Addison!

At $13,000 Addison will receive a $500 Bonus REACHED!

At  $18,000 Addison will receive a $1,000 Bonus REACHED!

At $23,000 Addison will receive a $1,500 Bonus

At $28,000 Addison will receive a  $2,000 Bonus

I'm also excited to be releasing colored Minor Arcana cards every day of this campaign! You can see these each day on my instagram @this_might_hurt or twitter @IsabellaRotman. Here are the cards that were released this week.

$13,000 Guidebook Stretch Goal Reached!
almost 5 years ago – Mon, Apr 29, 2019 at 02:44:23 PM

The $13,000 stretch goal for a free guidebook with EVERY DECK was reached last night, at 11 pm! I'm so thrilled that we reached this goal in less than 48 hours. This means every single person who backs a deck, and anyone who backs a deck in the future, will also receive a printed guidebook! The guidebook will include an introduction to the deck, some advice for readings, and card descriptions for every card! I'm so excited about this ya'll. This is going to make this deck, which is already designed to be a good deck to learn on, even more accessible for beginner tarot readers.

The guidebook is going to be printed in black and white, which is an opportunity to showcase the cards in their original line-art format. I absolutely love the color in this deck (Addison, you're amazing!), but I'm glad that in at least one place the cards are able to be printed in their original form. I think it will be very fun to see both versions of the art.

I'm also including in the card descriptions some insights to a few of the artistic choices I made while designing the cards. There are many instances in this deck where I deviated from the Rider-Waite-Smith formula, and the guidebook is my opportunity to share my reasoning for some of these choices! This is something I'm very excited to have the opportunity to do.

This stretch goal also includes a $500 bonus for our incredible colorist Addison! Addison's work brings so much to this deck and he was kind enough to do it at a discount. Thank you, so so much, from the bottom of my heart, for making it possible to raise his rate. I think Addison deserves to get paid SUPER WELL for all the incredible coloring he is doing, so I'm going to be going back into the campaign an working in incremental goals for more coloring bonuses as we go. Lets get this hardworking freelancer some money!

You all are amazing and thank you so much for coming together to make this deck (and Addison's paycheck) the best it can be! Thank you thank you thank you!

xoxo

Hot damn, backed in a day!!
almost 5 years ago – Wed, Apr 24, 2019 at 06:22:09 PM

Hello beautiful, incredible, wonderful backers!

WOW WOW WOW! I can’t believe it!! We backed in less than 9 hours, and this morning as I type this, one full turn of the earth since launch time, we have raised $11,141! That’s 139% of our goal! I am BEYOND thrilled with how this is going so far, and it’s all thanks to you! Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my extremely excited heart.

Yesterday was just the first day of a 30 day campaign! We have a long way to go, and I very much have my heart set on the stretch goal for a free printed guidebook for EVERYONE who backed a deck! We need to reach $13,000 to make that happen, which is less than $2000 away! You can help by talking about this deck with your friends and family and sharing the link to the Kickstarter on your social media channels. So many of you have already been doing this, and I appreciate it SO MUCH!

In the meantime, if you want to see bigger & better images of the Major Arcana cards (because  know the ones on the Kickstarter page are a little small) you can check them out at ThisMightHurtTarot.com. Eventually this website is going to be an online guidebook where anyone can look up cards and card descriptions for free, but for now, it’s a handy way to take a look at the Major Arcana up close! I’ll also be releasing one colored Minor Arcana card each day of the kickstarter campaign, and two cards a day in the final week. You can look out for these on my Instagram (@this_might_hurt) and twitter (@IsabellaRotman.) Here’s our first card, Page of Swords!

All of the court cards in the deck are portraits of real people in my life that I perceive as embodying the best aspects of the card. The Page of Swords is my friend Yusef Abonamah!

Thank you again, everyone!

Xoxo
